The VOE New Family Committee is here to make your transition to VOE as smooth as possible. We hope this part of the website is helpful to all our new families. We wish you the best in the coming year and please feel free to reach out anytime.

 

Newcomers' Checklist 

  1. Sign up to be a part of New Family email chain (NEW FAMILIES ONLY)

  2. Register your child for the new school year. You will be notified of teacher assignments in August.

  3. Skyward (app available also)
    • Skyward is a password protected site that provides both parents and students access to
      course grades and absences.
    • You will need to obtain log in and password information from the front office after
      school begins.
  4. Follow the PTA on Social media for updates on school events and fun facts!
  5. Download the Membership Tool Kit APP on your phone- applicable once school begins and all contact information has been registered. This is the fastest and easiest way to find other parents phone numbers, addresses or calendar questions 
  6. Sign up for your cafeteria account online (app available also)
    • If you plan for your child to purchase breakfast or lunch from the cafeteria at any time its important you set up an online meal account
    • Parents are welcome to come join their children for lunch outside. Please know you will need your ID to sign in and out at the front desk.
  7. Complete SBISD online volunteer registration form
    • To volunteer for a PTA committee, chaperone a field trip, or help in the school library/cafeteria/classroom, it is REQUIRED that you complete this online form EACH year
    • Ideally, do this prior to the first day of school
  8. Obtain school supplies.
    • Contact the front office for school supply lists.
    • Each year, the PTA offers parents the option to purchase prepackaged school supplies for each grade level. This is not required, but it is a convenient and cost- effective way to buy supplies. All supplies purchased through the PTA will be delivered to your child’s classroom before school begins. The deadline has past for ordering for the 2023-2024 school year.
  9. Fill out the BIG FORM (form to buy yearbooks, directory, donate, and become a PTA member) on the PTA website- Release date TBD
    • School directories are published each year and will only include information if you fill out your information and agree to have it published.
    • PTA Membership is a great way to support your school and your student and keep up
      with all happenings through our EBLAST system. Pay to become a member on the big
      form!
  10. Attend PTA Meetings- see PTA calendar for dates.
    • All parents and teachers are welcome and encouraged to attend the PTA Board Meetings. They are an excellent way to learn about everything going on at the school and upcoming events. Please check the calendar for specific dates and times.
  11. Select your dismissal method
    • Teachers will ask for this information at Meet the Teachers.
    • Options include- walkers, bus, or car line.
    • For bus routes- please ask the school for help and/or enter your address here
    • Any parents of Kindergartners riding the bus will also need a blue sign to retrieve their child from the bus in the afternoon. NO EXCEPTIONS. Pick up sign at meet the teachers.
    • Car line will require a sign to be displayed in car. Pick up sign at meet the teachers.
  12. Buy VOE Spirit gear online
    • The PTA has a variety of VOE themed articles to help show your pride! Wear your VOE spirit gear on Fridays to show your Eagle Spirit!
    • Spirit Wear ordering will occur twice a year. Once at the end of the year for the following school year and once more at the beginning of the school year.
  13. Mark Back to School Dates on Calendar
    • New Parent Orientation- August 14, 2023 at 8am (parents only)
    • Meet the Teachers – August 14, 2023 at 11-12:30pm (kids welcome)
    • Open House – September 14, 2023 5:30-6:30pm (kids welcome)
  14. Sign up for After School Programs and Activities
    • YMCA provides after care on campus. For more information please reach out to:

    • Other options include Big Little School and Spring Branch Presbyterian. You can reach out to each school and ask for more information.
  15. Sports- In the community there are two options for sports.
  16. After school activities include Chess, Cooking and Violin. More information will be presented at Meet the Teachers.
